CANADA REACTS TO QUAKE 1 IN QUEBEC KILLED IN BLACKOUT.(Main)

Eastern Canada's strongest earthquake in 53 years, which caused minor damage and no serious injuries, produced banner headlines Saturday, from "All Quebec Trembles" to "Shake, Rattle 'n Roll."

The jolt in Montreal disrupted the filming of a syndicated television show during an earthquake scene and in Toronto a man blamed his strange sensations on too much drinking.

The earthquake at 6:48 p.m. EST Friday lasted more than two minutes and measured 6 on the Richter scale, said John Adams of the Ottawa-based Geological Survey of Canada. Reports Friday night said the quake measured 6.4 on the Richter scale.
