Qld: Emergency crews search for missing campers in north

An air search for six missing campers in far north Queensland will continue today after
they failed to return from an Easter camping trip.

Police say the four adults and two teenagers were due back in Atherton on Anzac Day,
but still haven't arrived home.

Officers say they're concerned for the safety of the group because of deteriorating weather.

Meanwhile, seven campers have been found stranded on Russell Island, about 7km off
the coast near Babinda and are due to be rescued today.

And 12 Sydney University students stranded in outback Queensland will also be airlifted
to safety today.

The group, who were studying flora and fauna in the region, were isolated by flood
waters at their camp site about 145km north-east of Bedourie.
