SA: Radio host says his endorcements are no secret

ADELAIDE, Feb 10 AAP - Adelaide radio personality Jeremy Cordeaux said today his
listeners were well aware of his personal endorsements and there was nothing wrong with
them.

"There's absolutely nothing wrong with personal endorsements," he told ABC radio.

"Prime Ministers have them, astronauts have them, sportsmen have them.

"They've got to be obvious, they've got to be proclaimed and they've got to be above board."

Mr Cordeux's comments followed his appearance yesterday before the Australian Broadcasting
Authority's (ABA) cash for comment enquiry in Adelaide.

The hearings were held behind closed doors but were believed to have centred on claims
Adelaide radio stations 5AD and 5DN accepted fees of up to $30,000 from companies for
so-called industry credibility packages while Mr Cordeaux was managing director.

But the high-profile talk-back announcer said today the idea was just one of several
to come out of a management think-tank and was never proceeded with.

After yesterday's questioning Mr Cordeaux said there was no connection between the
Adelaide investigation by the ABA and the adverse findings handed down against Sydney
personalities Alan Jones and John Laws.

"There seems to me to be absolutely no parallel between what happened allegedly in
Sydney and what is being alleged here in Adelaide," he told reporters.

Mr Cordeaux, who no longer manages the stations but hosts a morning talkback program
on 5DN, said he had done nothing wrong and was unconcerned about the investigation.

The ABA also defended yesterday's closed hearing and board member Ian Robertson said
Mr Cordeaux was not under any personal suspicion or criticism.

"The authority is simply trying to ascertain what has happened, what agreements radio
5AD and 5DN have entered into and what, if anything, should be done about it," he said.
