NSW: Thousands turn out for Anzac Day march

SYDNEY, April 25 AAP - Thousands of people lined Sydney's main streets this morning to
watch the nation's ex-servicemen and women in the traditional Anzac Day march.

Fine weather brought out an estimated 150,000 onlookers to cheer on 15,000 war veterans, as
they made their way toward the Anzac Memorial in Hyde Park for a ceremony at 12:30pm.

Against the backdrop of war in Yugoslavia, Serb veterans declined to march in this year's
Sydney parade.

About one hour after the march began in Martin Place, an 80-year-old war veteran suffered a
heart attack and was resuscitated by St John Ambulance officers.

He was taken to St Vincent's Hospital in a critical but stable condition.
