Wills off base in Hinckley column

I understand why columnist Garry Wills is angry that JohnHinckley shot the president (April 20). As he wrote, attempting toassassinate a public figure represents an attack on civilized societyitself.

But I'm astonished that Mr. Wills fails to grasp and acknowledgethe vast difference between verdicts of guilty and not guilty byreason of insanity.
